Glad I found this! Just received my goodies in the mail (being in Australia delays things a bit). This track is off the limited edition 7" that came with the pre-order....
Also the following track is the B-Side, FE's cover of James Taylor's "Something In The Way She Moves". Enjoy :)
I've posted a free tracks from their first project 'Freedom Suite' presented by Nnenna Freelon & The Beast, hosted by 9th Wonder and featuring artists such as Phonte & Questlove. Im reallly excited about this!!
Regular check ups to Mr JB3's website/ Bandcamp always give me something to dance about. If you are as much a fan as I am then none of these songs will come as much of a surprise to you, but for those just catching on (or missing a few), this is brilliant! A collection of songs featuring the man himself... enjoy!
I love finding music by artists I have never heard before. There's no expectations, just good music. But it turns out finding out about 'The Weekend' is proving very difficult. Really nice joint though... Abel Tesfaye on vocals, Jeremy Rose on production.
It seems 'The Weekend' is part of the She's So Lovely crew, check 'em out!
"Jazz vocalist and multi Grammy nominee Nnenna Freelon joins hip-hop quartet The Beast to release Freedom Suite: a 10-track collection of creative reflections on jazz and hip-hop. Freedom Suite will be available for FREE download, digitally released on Okayplayer‘s new jazz channel:The Revivalist on October 26, 2010.
With guest appearances from 9th Wonder, Branford Marsalis, Phonte (of The Foreign Exchange/Little Brother), YahZarah, Geechi Suede (of Camp Lo) and several others..."
Ever wondered what 'I Need A Dollar' would sound like acoustic in a restaurant to the sound of clicking fingers and tapping feet? WELL wonder no more...
Phonte & Nicolay take us on a journey through all of The Foreign Exchange Albums: 'Connected', 'Leave It All Behind' & 'Authenticity' (out now).
The boys discuss how they came together, the transition from 'Connected' to 'Leave It All Behind', the Grammy nomination for the first single off LIAB 'Daykeeper', and Phonte talks about his move to less of an 'MC' role.
Put Me On It caught up with Olivier whilst he was on tour supporting Hudson Mohawke in Tokyo. PMOI is a great site for good music, and we support good music so check it out!!
Check out the video for 20 yr old Chris Barz's first single 'Dreamers' featuring Mr Jesse Boykins III (produced by Best Kept Secret). Once again Jesse's putting that soul in it!
"The first [in a long series of EPs] is our ‘Soul Edition’, featuring 7 incredible tracks from 7 amazing alt-soul artists. We have Olivier DaySoul, Jimetta Rose, Peter Hadar, Brittany Bosco, DivaGeek (Vula & Ben Jones), Fatima x Alex Nut & Reggie B. Some of these tracks were recorded specially for ‘Feed Your Ears’, some are exclusive, never before heard golden-audio-nuggets, while others were specially reworked, just for us." via PinBoardBlog
So I saw this, got excited about it, thought "I'll post this" and then didn't... But that's ok we are here now.
“It was incredible,” Monch told SoulCulture of his debut performance of ‘Clap’ in London. “That song is like a year and some change in the making – not that it took me a year to write it, but I found the beat on tour in Australia."
‘Clap’ was particularly inspired by the cases of Aiyana Jones, Oscar Grant and Sean Bell – “All young black people who were murdered by police officers in the States,” the Queens, NY emcee explains. “You feel helpless when this happens and the police never get charged with these crimes.”
So what do you get when you cross Peanut Butter Wolf & a collection of Dam-Funk tracks circa 1988-1992? The answer is Adolescent Funk: a 14 track album (to be released October 26) that features songs going back to Dam-Funk's teenage years..
"Dam-Funk, to many, is a new name from the past year or two, but what we see and hear from him is a great deal more interesting than a new and emerging artist with a sound influenced from the golden era of electro-funk. Dam-Funk is the real deal. He has been recording for himself for two decades, developing his work to his own taste, and using equipment like the Korg M1, Linn Drum, and Casio SK-1 since the days when many other musicians considered them novelty electronics rather than instruments. "
So was strolling through the homie Dee Phunk's ( @DeePhunk ) blog Trees For Breakfast and I came across this dope remix of Window Seat. The following conversation with myself followed:
"Wait wait wait, HOLLLUP, the person who remixed this is 17 ?!? whattheholymolygokidgo!!"
"I grew up with so many different music genres. With my dad as a professional musician and mom literally starting and ending days with the radio as her bible, I got exposed to music as a whole package. With this as the foundation of Mar Variations, I can take any joint or lyric and flip it the way I would love to hear it." via Mar Variations.
For the first of Mar Variations, Mar puts his spin on 'Single' by Lil' Wayne. This man is brilliant.
DJ Gavin Boyd hails from my fair city of Brisbane, Australia. He's supported the likes of ?uestlove (The Roots), Maseo (De La Soul), Dam-Funk, Anthony David and many many more! Basically, he knows his sh*t and this Common Tribute Mix is another sweet mix to add to the collection! Enjoy!
